Dispatchable Low Carbon Electricity – G2W+CC

by | Sep 2, 2022 | Uncategorized

Gas-to-wire with carbon capture (G2W+CC) offers an entirely new approach to monetising natural gas that minimises Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Gas2WireVentures has developed this new asset class over a number of years and for which many opportunities exist within the offshore oil and gas sector, for both brownfield and greenfield assets.

G2W+CC eliminates the need for carbon transportation by generating low carbon electricity at the source. Natural gas is produced, used and the resulting liberated carbon is captured for storage, all at one location. Lifecycle emissions are significantly reduced in the process, through for instance, electrification, and contained in a single project for transparency, deploying market ready carbon capture technology to capture over 95% of the post-combustion emissions. Low carbon electricity is supplied to local or national transmission and distribution grids.

We understand the unique characteristics required and have a well-defined approach that must be taken if they are to be successfully developed. In the UK alone, the company has identified eight opportunities that could, as a minimum, provide a combined 1GW of dispatchable low carbon generation capacity (power CCS), supplied exclusively by indigenous resources. Our solution is able to deliver multiple government objectives, including the Energy Security Strategy, North Sea Transition Deal and the NSTA’s central obligation.
