The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has confirmed that the HyNet and East Coast Clusters have secured Track-1 slots for delivery by the mid-2020s and will now be taken forward into Track-1, Phase-1 negotiations. The Scottish Cluster will be held in reserve as a back-up.
The aim is to use carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) technology to capture and store 20-30 MtCO2 per year by 2030, forming the foundations for future investment and potential export opportunities.
